I was highly impressed by this game during GMTK 2020 game jam, for me it is one the best games of any game jam. This new update made the game more valuable and competitive. looking forward for more such games on your page.

Amazing work. can't believe I didn't get to this one during the jam but I guess I guess thats just how it is sometimes. I really thing this is the best/ highest quality game of the whole jam. So exited to see this game as a full release. I think it could really be something big. godspeed friends.

New update is awesome!!!

It certainly makes the game a lot more balanced and removes a lot of the cheese, bringing back the fun. There's still a lot more you can add, like more maps (maybe  they can each have they're own gimmicks e.g: the direction the balloons come from changing), more enemies(perhaps some that are more unique) and towers (maybe some that use multiple currencies?), more modes(difficulty  modes would be nice, since the game is quite hard (which I get is intentional but worse players might dislike the game if they're finding it difficult to get though the first few waves); perhaps some  arcade modes, like a no waves mode; and I could see multiplayer being quite fun so maybe? not sure how that would work though) and some more polish. This game has a lot of potential and what you've done in a few weeks is incredible, keep up the good work!!

To your point: I agree that the game can get crazy hard at times.  I think having a little shield ability or dodgeroll ability would be nice, that would help the game have the typical difficulty curve instead of endlessly getting harder.

im loving the new update! it fixed almost all the issues i had with the game, and the new stacking enemy is great! one issue i have is with multiple currencies for each tower. i feel it makes it more difficult to build multiple towers, which i know is the point, but it also makes it more difficult to explore with diverse towers, meaning every run will use the same layout.

still, this was a great patch, and im exited to see what will happen in the future ! :)

Yeah, maybe a mix of both?  Forcing a bit of diversity is nice to keep things difficult but maybe allowing a bit of specialization too? :)

This is def the hardest part of balancing our game!
As for 1.2 (just went live btw) the currency has stayed the same.... BUT
So much more has been added, we'd love to hear more feedback from you!

I love it! You're really showing the potential of an action tower defence with both the bombs, and the powerups. The wrench is a great addition that adds a lot of potential to some underused towers, while simultaneously giving you a way to escape from certain doom. the new enemies are extremely unique and full of personality (though, I feel like the first couple of waves could use some more diversity). 

Though the money system is still flawed, it is more than made up for by the number of new features that diversity each playthrough. Outstanding work!

Absolutely love the new update guys. The game is still hard as hell XD but that's a good thing. I like how we have different currencies for the towers as well. Maybe if you could increase the rate at which hearts spawn in-game . Phenomenal job none the less :)

Hey loving the new update! One thing I'd like to see is an indicator of whether or not  you can place a building at a certain location (in many other games the building is coloured red when you can't place it and green when you can, for example)

it would be great if you added some bosses and boss towers that could do a special attack every often. And a turret that creates a safe zone that could provide a safe spot to the player and the enemies

great game! only have gotten to wave 4 but very good here are some things i would like to be added

1.i would like to have some sort of enemy that can hurt you when you touch it or it can shoot you

2.a tower deletion option would be nice

3.in the options menu there could be options to see the enemies health, and to see the stats of a weapon

4.it would be nice if there was diferent maps that would have diferent pixel art on the enemies and stuff and maybe diferent enemies that do diferent suff 

5.i know this was made in unity but ive heard that you can somehow add multiplayer/online to a game (idk how) but would be cool and fun if you could play with others

6.maybe some sort of store that you can access when you finish a wave where you can buy: weapons that the character can use (the wepons are only availavle for one round or have limited ammo), a one use shield (stuff can still hit you from the back), and maybe powerups

7.have a story mode if posible

8.a creative mode where you cant die and have inf screws/coins or just unkillable would be real cool

what if they also made an indicator of what enemy's are next, then made the bots Strong or weak against some towers (like double damage against towers same color as the body but immune to towers same color of the eyes)

Hi I have started developing a game that has the same concept unknowingly and my character looks very similar to yours if you want I can send you the sprite so you can see for yourself but as the aim is for my game to be released to the public and cost money I was wondering if this would bother you at all and thought I would better check in on you.

I really like the concept of the game and it's quite fun to play, there are a couple issues I came across while playing, either bugs/cheese for the game.

1. you can place quad shooters strategically and just stand where they don't shoot, you could try adding an element of taking damage if the player doesn't move or something along those lines, maybe even adding an enemy that shoots at the player every once in a while to prevent being completely static

2. There are inconsistencies regarding placement, if you place a tower, you can place another tower 2 ticks(?) under it, however if you try to put something above it you need 3 ticks of space, at least with the quad shooters that is.

3. Adding the capability to remove pre-existing towers will help perfectionists not gauge their eyes out as well as allow experimenting with different strategies within the same game

4. An option to speed the game up, or add more difficult and tougher to beat enemies later on in the game would be great imo or just adding hitpoints to the normal enemies

other than these points I really like the game and find it enjoyable to play as long as I don't cheese it haha


edit: the audio also seems to be broken when not looking at the game, as in scrolling down or moving to another tab

All of these bugs have only been tested on the windows version of this game.


Bugs

{

The "Report a bug " button, when you pause the game, will open the google forms tab twice.

If you try to build anything on the trees, you will hear a sound on any of the sides on the map except the top part.

Sometimes the game will get stuck on the loading screen. I just figured it out!, it only happens if you close the file.

Most of the top part of the tower isn't a  spot you can delete the towers from.

When you highlight a tower on the right side of the screen, any attempt to select a tower from the edge of the transparent white square will prove invalid, even though the cursor changes to the one with the index finger out.

I sometimes get hit by an invisible bullet at the end of the round . But, I might've not seen it.

You can push a robot into the finishing zone, (where the robots always try to go) and you wont take damage.

You can push a robot just fine, it will take more time to push 2 robots, it's very hard to push 3 robots and when you get to 4, you'll get pushed instead of the robots. In the round where 3 robots are stacked together vertically, you can push them easily instead of being as hard as pushing 3 separate robots at the same time.

When the Master, SFX and Music circle in the middle of the bar in the settings gets closer the left side of the bar, part of the bar will start to chip off.

When you push the robots through the path, they won't run off to where you started pushing them from.  This rarely turns out to be false, but at the end of the road, they will go back to where you started pushing them. This only happens sometimes.

If you hide behind the turret, if you're too close to the left, the left bullet will hit you the same applies to the right bullet if you're too close to the right bullet. If you're near the middle, the lower bullet will hit you instead of the upper bullet. This applies to the Quad-shot and the Octo-shot. If you hide behind the Lock-on in the middle, it will hit you but the bullets will go downwards instead of upwards. And the spinner will always hit you if you hide behind the tower.

You can build on yourself, therefore if you are in a corner and build on yourself, you'll get stuck.

Things you could change or add

When you're in the state of Iframes, I think the bullets should be destroyed to give the player more of a chance.

 I also think i'd be nice to drag the towers from the shop to the playing field as another way to build towers.

The Loading screen is really empty.

I don't want to grab a heart if I'm full health.

The blockade can't be rotated, therefore it's more usefull verticaly instead of a horizontaly.

Change the texture of the grass, it's too repetitive.

Add some other trees.

I think the coins to get the spinner are too rare for what you end up getting. 

Make other maps

Add some music to the title screen

Some new towers

More enemies

It's really fun to play, but I don't think I can beat a score of 814 (at the time I wrote this comment)

I came back for a second round and noticed another bug. It has to do with the lock on tower. I don't exactly know why it happens and because there isn't a creative mode, I can't test it many times without first beating the first 2 waves. The towers will lock on to the robots that haven't entered the arena yet and the bullets won't shoot in the enemies direction nor mine but in another direction. Just look at the picture and you will know what I'm talking about.

Also:


You can stop the robots but they will eventually slip throught the sides. Do what you want about that.

Anyways, I'm super excited about the future updates. 

Reaching out again, we looked at your feedback and are making some needed adjustments. Thank you again. 

We're confused to what causes this

In the .exe what file are you closing?

As for a bigger update that is still being decided. We are planning on adding more! So, everything you brought up will be discussed.

It is soooo boring(((
After wave 20-25 it turns to click start -> wait -> repeat
Made a suicide at wave 51 to find out the number of robots trashed (it was 2579) and stop this time wasting experience)

PS: please, allow to destroy towers. At least it will provide some perfectionist pleasure to build a perfect system)

Thanks for your comment! The particular cheese that you found (using mostly just the quad-shot so you can find a safe spot and wait) is something other people have mentioned, and will be fixed in a future update (coming soon!) With this fix, our goal is to make waiting in a single spot impossible - so that way you always have to keep moving and dodging bullets.

Also, destroying towers is another feature coming soon.

I love tower defense, and so this game

The pixel art its really pretty and cute, the player and robots designs are pretty nice. I say that the tower design could be something different and more interesting, but it's good enough for being made in 48 hours

The music and sounds are right, there is nothing to add or discuss in it.

The concept of controlling a character in a tower defense game sounds great, and it fixes one of the genre biggest flaw, boredom. The friendly fire mechanic really fits the game jam theme, 4 towers and it can become a bullet hell, I'm really thinking who is the enemy here haha.
It's a really fun game and I would love more games to explore the same concept.

Nice game! Was very fun to play and I would love to see more happen to this game. The only bug I found was that if you try place an octo-shot and then hit the button to not place it you will get 20 bolts

Unfortunate that the best strategy is to fill the board then camp in the corner while you watch waves go by.  The game seems very cool initially but doesn't really have any replayability.

I really liked this! It would be nice to have a few keys set different game speeds to pass by the easier levels once you get the hang of the game to have some quality of life with the replay-ability. Hope to see more!

cool game. I wish the character had more precise controls tho. Play any bullet hell and you wont find any sort of acceleration and you stop as soon as you arent pressing any buttons. I had enough fun to get to wave 20 so it was a good game regardless. This could be a really cool game given more than 48 hrs of dev time

Good challenge: How far can you get with only the initial bolts (once they are spent, can't build anything more).

I can't seem to make it past level 5.

You've got to collect the explosion parts the robots drop! We've added more things to collect with the 1.1 update, we hope you enjoy!

I cheesed too much, but otherwise great game!

You don't need to take any of my suggestions, but to prevent cheesing, maybe if there was more incentive to use other towers rather than just 1. Also if there was more incentive to build during a wave, it could encourage players to move more during a wave rather than standing still.
